Hello,

With the first month of 2007 behind us, already there has been a number of races to start up the new season. The first ITU triathlon of the year was held in La Paz, Argentina followed closely by the second in Villarrica, Chile. Not to mention three winter triathlon world cups as the winter season hits full stride. All race stories and results are available on triathlon.org in the 'news' section.

We at ITU have tracked down the top triathletes of the 2006 season to ask them 5 questions. In January we interviewed the Spanish duo of 2006 world cup winner Javier Gomez and 2002 world champion Ivan Rana. We also got in touch with the women's world champion from 2002 Leanda Cave of Great Britain and Germany's rising star Jan Frodeno. Take a look to see what they had to say about 2006 and their preparations for 2007. Also take a tour of the new 'athletes' section on triathlon.org, with updated profiles and full athlete results.

The venue for the 2007 ITU Aquathlon World Championships has been announced. The resort city of Ixtapa, Mexico will host the 2007 edition of the event on May 12th.

ITU President Les McDonald was recently honoured by Triathlete Magazine, being inducted into their 'Hall of Fame'. Les was in San Diego to receive the award at a jam-packed reception full of multi-sport heroes, past and present.
